Abstract: The talk will focus on important points such as cooperation, competition and confrontation in international and regional security environment with pivot around China, multi polar world and India, power play of nations in Asia, Pakistan China collusivity, Afghanistan dynamics and facets of India China relations. Historical overview of the boundary issue, current Situation along LAC and CBMs, transgressions and the Doklam impasse will also be discussed. Biography: Lieutenant General P R Kumar, PVSM, AVSM, VSM is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery on 15 Dec 1976. The General Officer in his illustrious career spanning 39 years has a very judicious mix of Command, Staff and Instructional Appointments in varied operational environments. He has commanded an Infantry Brigade on the Line of Control and a Medium Regiment, an Infantry Division and the prestigious Strike Corps in the Desert Sector. He has also tenanted varied Staff Appointments including Military Secretary’s Branch and Operational Staff Assignments in the Military Operations Branch, General Staff Officer Grade 1 in a Mountain Division, Colonel General Staff of an Infantry Division in the Valley, Brigadier General Staff (Operations) and Major General Staff (Operations) in Northern Command, the most active Command Headquarters involved in Counter Insurgency/Counter Terrorist operations and LC/LAC management. In addition, the General has been an instructor at school of Artillery and Senior Liaison Officer at UNOMIL, Liberia. He is an accomplished Army Aviator with extensive flying experience in the toughest terrain of the Himalayas. |
