Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar in association with the British Council of India organized a roundtable discussion on “Higher Education, Entrepreneurship and Global Cities: Prospects of Bhubaneswar” on March 09, 2017 in the Board Room of IIT Bhubaneswar at Toshali Bhavan, Satyanagar, Bhubaneswar.
In his welcome address, Hon’ble Director of IIT Bhubaneswar, Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar said that IIT Bhubaneswar was keen to develop new partnerships with research based higher education institutes particularly in the areas of climate science, materials, manufacturing, energy and smart city research. He also emphasized on the entrepreneurship development and smart city research at IIT Bhubaneswar. He highlighted the growing importance of Bhubaneswar as an educational hub in the eastern region and stressed that tourism could also play a significant role for cultural collaborations.
The roundtable discussion was participated by heads of educational and research institutes, experts in higher education, successful entrepreneurs, and government officials. All the participants made presentations and it was followed by brainstorming discussions. There were also two expert presentations from UK via Skype. The discussions were moderated by Dr. Debanjan Chakrabarti, Director of British Council (East India). Dr. Chakrabarti highlighted the aim of the British Council in providing market insights of Bhubaneswar to the UK partners.
