IIT Bhubaneswar held a ceremony on November 28th 2016 to celebrate the completion of its new building, School of Mechanical Sciences. The three-storey building has a floor space of about 40,000 sq. feet. The building has 28 faculty rooms, 7 research scholar rooms, and specialized laboratories to cater the experiments of B.Tech and M.Tech courses, and departmental research activities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Hon’ble Chairman, Board of Governors Shri Pankaj Ramanbhai Patel, along the Director Prof. R. V. Rajakumar, and other dignitaries. The Hon’ble Chairman, Board of Governors started the ceremony by cutting the ribbon. It was followed with the lightning of the lamp by the Hon’ble Chairman, the Director, and other dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Chairman wished the faculty, staff, and students of the School of Mechanical Sciences to work at the best of their abilities. He said that the new building should open possibilities of new infrastructure and lead to added motivation to the students and faculty alike. The Director, Prof. R.V.Rajakumar while speaking on the occasion gave his best wishes to the faculty, staff, and students. He thanked the Hon’ble Chairman Shri Pankaj Ramanbhai Patel for gracing the occasion and inaugurating the new building.
Later, the Hon’ble Chairman, the Director, and the other dignitaries were given an overview of different laboratories present in the new building by the Head of the School Dr. Sathyanarayna Panigrahi.
