The UBA team of IIT Bhubaneswar organized a sensitization programme for the Primary and High School children of the Schools of the adopted villages on 14 April 2016 in our permanent campus. Nine faculty members and a good number of students of the Institute organized the events. A large number of school children and a few teachers participated in this programme. At the outset, UBA coordinator Prof R K Panda welcomed the participants and highlighted the significance and usefulness of UBA campaign for overall development of adopted villages through affordable technological interventions. In addition, he outlined the roadmap for various programmes related to sanitation, solar energy, teaching learning and eco-friendly activities which will be undertaken in the adopted villages.
The faculty members supported by the students imparted awareness on cleanliness; sanitation, solid waste management, environmental protection, and career development in science and technology through interactive sessions, educational videos, informal games and question-answers. Prizes were given away for the best performers in the drawing competition and number games. Token mementos were distributed to each participant, including the teachers. School children effectively participated with lots of enthusiasm. The UBA team informed the School children that there is a plan to conduct a training session on functional English in the schools of adopted villages.
Our students shared the information that the Souls for Solace team conducted a cleanliness drive under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the UBA adopted village of Argul on 3rd October 2015.
