Career Development Cell (CDC) of IIT Bhubaneswar conducted a workshop on Recent Recruitment Trends by Industries at IITs on April 1, 2016. Directors, Vice-Chancellors of the premier Institutes/Universities in and around Bhubaneswar and heads of the placement cell of IITs participated in the workshop. The inauguration session was presided by Prof. R. V. Rajakumar, Director IIT Bhubaneswar. While making opening remarks, Prof. R.V. Rajakumar highlighted various issues related the human resource requirement in different sectors of the country and stressed on a revamping of higher education planning to cater the needs of industries. In his view, a proper assessment of human resource requirement of the country should be made by taking opinions of industry and institutional heads. The heads of placement cell of IIT Kanpur, Delhi, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Ropar, Jodhpur gave the presentation. Moreover, Dr. C. N. Bhende, Prof.-in-Charge, CDC, IIT Bhubaneswar, gave the presentation on the behalf of IIT Madras and IIT Bombay. The heads of placement cell presented the last three years statistical data and trends of placement in various domains of industries such as core, IT, consulting, education, etc. During the workshop the participants discussed and analysed various factors affecting the current trends of placements in IITs. While taking part in the discussion, Prof. D. D. Misra, BOG Chairman ISM Dhanbad emphasised on the need of imparting vocational training to the under graduates to improve placement in the core sectors. |
