IIT Bhubaneswar Inaugurated its 1st Year Lab Complex on 2nd January 2016
His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Dr. S. C. Jamir inaugurated the 1st Year Lab Complex at Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar Permanent Campus, Argul, Jatni on 2nd January 2016 at 11 am. His Excellency Governor of Odisha has addressed the students, faculty and staff on this occasion and inspired the young minds of the Institute to develop a culture of creativity and innovation. The Institute has organized a tree plantation programme on this occasion and His Excellency planted a sapling in front of the Lab Complex. His Excellency has also interacted with the students, faculty and staff of the Institute and made the occasion very remarkable in the history of IIT Bhubaneswar.
Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar welcomed His Excellency, the Governor of Odisha and briefed him about the academic programmes, other infrastructure creation and future plan of the Institute. He also said that this inauguration also marks the beginning of academic activity in the permanent campus and thus is a significant step in the history of IIT Bhubaneswar. Theory and laboratory classes are scheduled to commence in this complex from 4th Jan 2016.
Prof. Subhasish Tripathy, Deputy Director, Prof. V. R. Pedireddi, Dean (CE), Faculty, other students and senior officials of the State Government including District Collector & Magistrate, Khordha attended the programme.
The 1st year laboratory complex is first of the academic buildings to be inaugurated. This inauguration is the next significant step after the institute shifted its students to the permanent campus on 18th July 2015 coinciding with Jagannath Yatra day, which marked the beginning of starting operations in the permanent campus.
