The Socio-Cultural Council of Students’ Gymkhana, IIT Bhubaneswar organized Teacher’s Day on 5^th September 2015 to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan, the second President of India, who was a great scholar, philosopher, diplomat and above all, a teacher.

 

On this auspicious occasion, to uphold the rich cultural heritage of India, the socio-cultural council, in association with SPICMACAY (The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) exhibited a splendid Odissi dance performance by Dr. Ileana Citaristi.  Ileana Citaristi is an Italian-born Odissi and Chhau dancer and is the first dancer of foreign origin to be conferred the Padma Shri for her notable contributions to Odissi. The performance quite literally created an atmosphere of devotion and was a genuine delight for the audience.
