Talk by Prof. Ajit Mishra on Anti Corruption strategies
On 3rd February 2025 Monday, the School of humanities, Social Sciences & Management, IIT Bhubaneswar hosted Professor Ajit Mishra, Head, Department of Economics, University of Bath, Bath, Somerset, UK, for a distinguished public lecture at Lalitgiri. At the outset, the seminar convener Dr. Sitakanta Panda, Assistant Professor, SHSSM, introduced the eminent economist and game theorist Professor Mishra to the audience. Dr. Amrita Satpathy, HoS in-charge, felicitated Professor Mishra. Thereafter, Professor Ajit Mishra delivered an insightful lecture on the topic “Anti-corruption strategies: How ‘not to fight’ corruption”. In his lecture, he succinctly spoke about the existing research on the economic theory of corruption using fascinating examples from game theory, economic history and political economics. He spoke about the successes and failures of anti-corruption policies from a principal-intermediary-agent perspective and elaborated on how public sector corruption could be reduced through various strategies, regulation, and civic behavior. At last, Dr. Panda thanked Prof. Mishra for his brilliant talk. More than a hundred students and faculties had attended the public lecture.
