18th Jan 2020 Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar organized a ‘Road Safety Awareness Drive’ for creating awareness about safe riding and driving practices on the road. A cycle rally was organized by EAA (Extra Academic Activity)-NSS (National Service Scheme) team of IIT Bhubaneswar. The cycle rally was used to highlight the importance of physical fitness in everybody’s life in line with the ‘Fit India Campaign’ launched by Shri. Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. The Cycle rally started from the IIT Main Gate and the end point was the Sub-Registrar Office, Jatni, Khordha. More than 100 students, faculty and staff members participated in the cycle rally.
As per the mandate from the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), the Institute has engaged the faculty, staff members and students in physical activities, a detailed fitness plan has already been rolled out on the website. The intention of this cycle rally is to create mass awareness on road safety, health and wellness as part of the ‘Fit India Campaign’.
Also present on the occasion were Dr. Snehasis Chaudhary, NSS Coordinator and Dr. Srikant Gollapudi, EAA Coordinator, IIT Bhubaneswar. The Institute witnessed active participation from faculty, staff members and students. With a strong focus on fitness and health, IIT Bhubaneswar is poised for giant leap ahead.
