Integrative Wellness Through Yoga

A One Day National Workshop on Integrative Wellness Through Yoga was organized by the School of HSS&M on 24th July, 2023. The event was convened and coordinated by Dr. Sreetama Misra and sponsored by the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi. Nearly 40 participants including the research scholars as well as faculty members participated in the workshop. The two key resource persons were Dr. Saroj Kanta Kar, Head, Department of Philosophy, Utkal University, and Smt. Smrithi Aadinarayan, Co-founder, Anaadi Foundation, Coimbatore. Dr. Kar delivered his talk on 'Vipasyana: Theory and Practice' and Smt. Aadinarayanan spoke on 'The Science of Well Being and the Relevance of Yoga'. The event was graced by Prof. Sujit Roy, Dean, Continuing Education, IIT Bhubaneswar. The objective of the workshop was to offer insights into the scientific and philosophical aspects of yoga, aiming to cultivate mindfulness and self awareness, thereby contributing to improved overall well being and life satisfaction.

 

 

Productive Efficiency: Theory and Practice

Dr. Naresh Chandra Sahu has conducted a short term course on “Productive Efficiency: Theory and Practice”, under Global Initiative for Academic Networks (GIAN) Program of MHRD from 30th May to 8th June, 2016. The short term course was inaugurated and presided by Prof Sujit Roy, acting Dean (Continuing Education). Sixty four participants, comprising of research scholars and faculty members from various IITs, Universities and research institutes have participated in the program. Prof Kaliappa Kalirajan from Australian National University and Prof Biresh Sahoo, XIMB Bhubaneswar are the international and national resource persons respectively for the ten days long short-term course.

Postcolonial World Literature

Dr. Punyashree Panda organized a two week GIAN Course on “Postcolonial World Literature” fully funded by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India from 15-25 February 2016 at IIT Bhubaneswar. Professor Tabish Khair from Aarhus University, Denmark was the International Faculty for the Course.

Practical Aspect of a Communication Lab: The Road Ahead

The School of Humanities, Social Sciences, & Management, IIT Bhubaneswar in association with the Centre for Advanced Communication, Kharagpur successfully organised a workshop on “Practical Aspects of a Communication Lab: The Road Ahead” on 4 May 2013. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Susmit Pani, Director, Directorate of Distance & Continuing Education (DDCE), Utkal University. The convener of the event was Dr. Amrita Satapathy. The workshop was attended by around 40 participants. Experts from different IITs and other reputed institutions and organizations delivered lectures in different sessions of the workshop.

Ethics and Integrity in Organisations

School of HSSM organized a workshop on ‘Ethics and Integrity in Organisations' on 16 April 2013. The workshop aimed at developing proficiency in ethics and integrity in organisations among the researchers, policy makers and planners, corporate and educational institutions, managers, government & non-government organizations. The workshop had a core team of experts comprised of keynote speaker Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon, a distinguished academician, noted for his role in shaping national legal education policies and curriculum. Prof. K.L.Chopra former Director, IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Manas K Mandal, an Outstanding Scientist who has been appointed as Chief Controller R&D (Life Sciences), DRDO and Ms. Shobhana Radhakrishna, an ‘Eminent Citizen’ to the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India were the other experts for the workshop.  Dr Anamitra Basu, Convener, Dr Dukhabandhu Sahoo, and Dr Naresh Chandra Sahu, co-convener of the workshop coordinated the event.

Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA-2012)

The School of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management, IIT Bhubaneswar organised a National Workshop on “Environmental Impact Assessment:  Issues, Challenges and Policy Implications in India (EIA-2012)” from 9-10 June 2012. The main objective of the Workshop was to provide guidance on EIA processes, correct methods of baseline data generation and impact prediction techniques. Dr. Ashok Sahu, Principal Advisor, Labour Employment and Manpower Division, Planning Commission, Govt. of India was the key note speaker on the occasion and delivered a talk on “Assigning Importance to Creation of Green Jobs in Environmental Impact Assessment in India”.  More than 60 academicians from all over India participated in the workshop. Eminent economists, scientists, academicians, entrepreneurs, and officials from around the country contributed to the quality of the workshop by giving lectures on varied topics. Dr Naresh Chandra Sahu, and Dr Dukhabandhu Sahoo organized the workshop.

Teaching English Redefined: Latest Approaches for the English Language Classroom

A two day workshop on “Teaching English Redefined: Latest Approaches for the English Language Classroom” was organized by the School of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management from 19-20 November 2011. The inaugural address was given by eminent academician Prof. M. Fakruddhin, Professor of English, Government of Odisha who enlightened the audience with his lecture on teaching skills, use of language and the importance of English language in everyday life. The objective of the workshop was to augment the English language teaching skills of teachers teaching Communicative English in technical institutes. More than 50 participants from around the country participated in the workshop. The workshop was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Punyashree Panda of the School of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management.

Multivariate Statistical Analysis  

A National Workshop on Multivariate Statistical Analysis was organised by the School of HSS&M on 26 March 2011. The Theme of the Workshop was based on Multivariate statistical analysis as a multiple advanced technique for examining relationships among multiple variables at the same time, applicable to research in various disciplines of sciences, technology and social sciences. Prof. Narendra K. Sharma of Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, IIT Kanpur gave the key note address. The convener of the workshop was Dr Asmita Shukla.
