Institute Seminar on “Future of the world: Innovation and Entrepreneurship”

The seminar began with welcome by Dr. C. N. Bhende (PIC Seminar) followed by brief introduction of the speaker.

Mr. Anindya started with communication technology and computer infrastructure available during his time when he was studying at IIT Kharagpur. He mentioned about the technological differences during his time and now and challenges are different at present. He gave some of the examples how platform companies have grown during last 10 years due to technological development in computing infrastructure. He mentioned four futuristic areas in which huge potential is present for jobs as well as entrepreneurship. Those areas in broader sense are water, energy, air and food. He also highlighted the role and importance of interdisciplinary areas, data handling and artificial intelligence in the industries.

Students gathered in large numbers and they were highly enthusiastic to listen and interact with the speaker. They asked many questions to the speaker and speaker responded in the similar fashion.

The seminar concluded with the Dr. Y. Bhumkar (PIC, Startup Centre) felicitating Mr. Anindya Maitra with a memento of appreciation.

Biography of Speaker:

He born in the beautiful city of Jamshedpur (Tatanagar - Steel City). Mr. Anindya grew up in a progressive culture where education was embedded in the daily interactions of a closely knit community and their festivals. His school and college exposed him to diverse people and their belief systems, which is a reality in India. He formally learnt and practiced three disciplines at different institutions which are deeply connected and brought balance in his life. He is Masters in Technology from IIT Kharagpur, Masters in Physics from University of Calcutta and a Diploma in Fine Arts from Rabindra Bharati. Mr. Anindya has been working in the IT industry for sometime now while admiring all form of industries around. He quotes, “it is fascinating to see how every system is born out of the existing eco-system, thereafter grow, give birth and eventually morph into another system or die”. He continues to learn from his experiences at Wipro, IBM and Mindtree through various technical, managerial and cross functional roles. Embedded systems and networking protocols has been his technical base, Project and Program Management are his delivery base and Organizational Change Management is his learning base. Setting up Mindtree Kalinga - which was a strategic change initiative to create an environment where the next generation engineers are nurtured. It is an amazing physical, intellectual and emotional infrastructure one must visit to learn. Mr. Anindya loves to work with people and build institutions. He is fortunate to learn from and mentor young professionals. He thought it is a deeply satisfying journey where you can give back and reclaim some of your own lost time. Currently he heads Organization Development at Mindtree, grooming Top Talent and building Leadership capabilities. He lives in Pune and work in Bangalore with immense supported from his family, friends and colleagues and outside like IIMs and IITs.
