Dr. Farooq's research focuses in the field of Water, Energy, and the Environment. His research contributions have been featured in prestigious publications such as Water Research, Journal of Hydrology, Geothermics, Science of the Total Environment, among others.
Beyond his research accomplishments, Dr. Farooq exhibits exceptional administrative skills. Since May 2021, he has been serving as the Head of the School of Earth, Ocean, and Climate Sciences, overseeing academic and research endeavors while also leading as the faculty in-charge of the Advanced Geochemical Laboratory. Dr. Farooq actively contributes to various institute-level committees at IIT Bhubaneswar, demonstrating his commitment to institutional development. He has also acted in various capacities in national and international committees.
Dr. Farooq has gained valuable international research experience, spending two and a half years at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. He was also honored with the prestigious United Nations University (UNU) Fellowship, being one of the seven professionals selected globally. During his stay at UNU Iceland, Dr. Farooq was engaged in advanced geothermal research and training. He has also received DAAD fellowships on multiple occasions and continuing his collaborative work with KIT, Germany.
As a dedicated mentor, Dr. Farooq has guided four students to successfully attain their Ph.D. degrees, and thirty-six students for their Master's degree project dissertations. Dr. Farooq's passion for education, research, and institutional development continues to inspire colleagues and students alike.
