Biosketch

 Dr. Anamitra Basu serves as a member of the faculty at the School of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management, Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. Her research spans around laterality, functional asymmetry, social cognition, emotional intelligence, scanning bias, cyberpsychology, personality and cross cultural psychology. She has been actively engaged in teaching and research for over two decades, contributing to both Cognitive and Social Psychology and interdisciplinary discussions. Before joining IIT Bhubaneswar, she was an Assistant Professor in IIT Guwahati. She was aVisiting Researcher cum Visiting Professor in University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Dr Basu was a Visiting Scientist cum post-doctoral CNRS fellow in University of Blaisé  Pascal, Clermont Ferrand' France.She had been a consultant Psychologist in AMRI, now Manipal Hospitals, and Peerless Hospital, Kolkata. Dr Basu completed her PhD at IIT Kharagpur. Her doctoral thesis, titled " Lateral Advantage in the Perception of Visual Stimulicritically examines Laterality, which is understood in terms of structural and functional asymmetry.  She has published research articles in reputed International journals and has presented her work at various academic conferences. She was a Gold Medalist for best achievement in Graduation from University of Calcutta. Besides, she enjoys teaching a range of psychology courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, incorporating ideas of cognition, social cognition, cross-cultural and cyberpsychology. She also serves as a reviewer for several international journals. Apart from academia, she is a voracious reader, a classical dancer. She finds interest in third form of drama, keen in exploring new places, and a passionate cook. She has a special interest in languages, and has medium fluency in some foreign languages, as German, French, Polish, Latin, and Urdu.
