AI and Cyber Security Area Lead: : Prof. Padmalochan Bera
Dr. Padmalochan Bera is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering in School of Electrical Sciences, IIT, Bhubaneswar. He has completed PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur. Prior to joining IIT Bhubaneswar, Dr. Bera worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, USA, a Researcher at General Motors and a Senior Research Scientist at Infosys Labs. The major areas of his research are Network and Systems Security, Cryptography and Database Systems. He also works on designing protocols for Software Defined Networks and Applied Cryptography. He has more than 12 years of applied research experience in this domain. Dr. Bera lead network security research group at IIT Bhubaneswar, consisting of 20 undergraduate, 10 postgraduate and 6 doctoral students and project staffs.
Dr. Bera has a number of research funding from Govt. agencies (DRDO, CPRI, Meity) and Industries (Bharat Electronics, Cisco, Whizhack Technologies, VMWare). He has published more than 70 research papers in reputed journals such as IEEE TDSC, IEEE TNSM, IEE TSG, Computers and Security, and conferences such as INFOCOM, CCS, etc. Dr. Bera served in Editorial board and organizing committee of various journals and conferences. He is a member, IEEE and member, ACM. Dr. Bera has research collaborations with various international academic Institutes such as University of North Carolina, University of Illinois, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Missouri, Oxford University, and Florida International University.
