B.Tech student Manikanta Varma (SES) wins First Prize in national competition

IIT Bhubaneswar pleased to share that, Mr. Manikanta Varma, one of the 3rd year B. Tech. (Computer Science) students of the Institute has won the First Prize in the National Competition of StockMIND 6 organized by ICICI Securities in the Graduate category with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and all-expenses paid for a two way trip to Thailand (for 2 members).  The same was presented to the candidate in the meeting held on 25.05.2018 in Mumbai.  In this regard, the ICICI securities recognized the contributions of the winner and the Institute by presenting memento and a certificate to the Head of the Institute. 
Mr. Mainkanta won the prize competing with 2,61,809 no. of students from 697 colleges of Management, Science and Technology, amongst 7 IITs including IIT Bhubaneswar. 
Prof R V Raja Kumar, Director of the Institute congratulated Mr. Manikanta and reiterated that the institute is providing holistic education to its students aimed at their all-round development. Prof V R Pedireddi, Dean-Student Affairs received the award for the institute on behalf of the Director.
StockMIND 6 is an annual, Nationwide virtual stock market competition for college students being conducted by ICICI Securities. StockMIND 6's real-world trading environment helps the students sharpen their analytical, decision making and quick thinking skills.  In this exercise, the Students are divided into 2 Categories PG (Post Grads) and UG (Under Grads).
There are 2 Rounds - 1st is College Round, in which, Students from a particular College compete with each other to qualify to the National Round. 2nd Round is National Round; In this the 1st round winners compete with each other to win this round trading for 7 days with a virtual money of 15 Lakhs and winner was decided based on the Net worth (market value of stocks + available cash limit).
