10th Foundation Day on 12th February 2018.
Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar is observing its 10th Foundation Day on 12th February 2018 (Monday) at its Argul Campus, Jatni, Bhubaneswar. Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Govt. of Odisha, Shri Aditya Prasad Padhi, IAS has consented to be the Chief Guest of the programme and will inaugurate the Foundation Day Ceremony. On the occasion C. Uday Bhaskar, Director, Society for Policy Studies will be the Guest of Honour and deliver the Foundation Day Lecture. Hon’ble Director will welcome the audience and dignitaries and preside over the ceremony.
To commemorate the ceremony, the Institute will organise an Open Day in the campus from 11:30 AM to 5: 30 PM for participation of School students from Class-VI to Class- XII and Junior Engineering students from across the city and the state. On the eve, as a part of the open house, a Science and Technology exhibition will be organized by the students of IIT, spanning across all of its schools. More than 100 exhibits are going to exhibits are going to be demonstrated to visitors. (Details of the exhibition are available at the Institute website (www.iitbbs.ac.in). The visiting students will have an opportunity to visit the Institute, go through the exhibition being put up by IIT students, go around the campus to explore, experience and enjoy the activities of the Institute.
Prof. R V Raja Kumar, Director of the Institute said that the Open House and Exhibition is a valuable part of the “outreach” activities of the Institute and it is intended to excite and inspire young school children towards the areas of Science and Technology. IIT Bhubaneswar would like to give this opportunity to school students to gain a good perspective about science and technology from the experience of faculty, research scholars and other students of IIT. Already more than 700 students from various schools have confirmed their participation and the number is expected to be far more than 1000. IIT Bhubaneswar is organizing the event for the first time for its inception and shall continue hereafter every year. The visiting students are advised to bring an I-card or accompanied by their teachers, as far as possible.
During the inaugural session, the Hon’ble Chief Guest and Director IIT Bhubaneswar will felicitate distinguished faculty who excelled in teaching, faculty and staff who rendered outstanding services to the Institute and students who performed well in inter IIT arena.
The event will end with a cultural programme consisting of Kathak dance by Mrs. Sushmita Banerjee as a part of SPIC MACAY and musical programme by IIT students.
