Awareness Programme on Novel Corona Virus (Covid-19) Organized At IIT Bhubaneswar
05th March, 2020 Bhubaneswar: An interactive awareness talk on Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) was organized by the Medical Unit of IIT Bhubaneswar for its campusites. Dr. Biajayantimala Mishra, Professor and HOD, Department of Microbiology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar was speaker on the occasion. The session was presided over by Professor R V Rajakumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar. The event was aimed to spread awareness about the Novel Corona Virus and precautionary measures for the same.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar appreciated the initiative by the Medical Unit of IIT Bhubaneswar. He also stressed that from the time of its inception, IIT Bhubaneswar has been committed to the well-being of all the campusites of the Institute. He underlined the need to have the base knowledge about the corona virus so that preventive measures can be taken up effectively and timely. He also encouraged the students and employees to keep themselves updated on health related information so as to minimize health risks and contribute towards the creation of a healthy society. He urged the people not to believe in unauthenticated and false news spreading by social media.
Dr. Biajayantimala Mishra, Professor and HOD, Department of Microbiology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar delivered an informative and engaging lecture on the recent spread of Corona Virus in many parts of the world and its implications for our country. She also educated the audience regarding the various aspects of the Corona Virus infection along with the precautionary measures to prevent infection and staying hale and hearty. She highly appreciated the effort of IIT Bhubaneswar in promoting awareness regarding the contemporary health challenges like novel Corona virus (COVID-19).
Also present during the event were Prof. R.K. Panda, Dean Alumni Affairs & International Relations, Prof. V R Pedireddi, Dean Student Affairs and Col (Dr) Subodh Kumar, Registrar, IIT Bhubaneswar besides faculty, staff and students. The awareness talk was followed by a Q&A session which was highly appreciated by the campusites for dispelling their doubts about various aspects of the CORONA Virus disease. The session ended with vote of thanks.
